factor this 2x^2-x-3 and this 5x^2+34x-7
both are 2 different questions

2x^2 - x - 3
(2x - 3)(x + 1)

2x - 3 = 0
2x = 3
x = 3/2

x + 1 = 0
x = -1




5x^2 + 34x - 7
(5x - 1)(x + 7)

5x - 1 = 0
5x = 1
x = 1/5

x + 7 = 0
x = -7



just plug all the answers into the original equations to make sure they all check out. discard any answers that don't.

2x^2-x-3 = (2x - 3)(x +1)

5x^2+34x-7 = (5x -1)(x + 7)

(2x -3)(x+1) = 2x^2 -x -3
(5x -1)(x+7) = 5x^2 +34x -7
