My Great Dane has been dragging a foot just a bit. The vet said to be on the look out for Wobbler's. Recently he has been having fairly regular diahrea - not every day but fairly frequently.

He likes to eat a bit of the moist cat food. He still gets his 3 or 4 scoops of regular kibble. Is the cat food enough to cause watery poop or is it likely that there is something more serious? He gets his monthly heart worm/wormer so it isn't that. I've taken him off of a regular collar and put him on a body harness to be safe from futher neck injury should it be Wobbler's. Any ideas or suggestions?

The cat food could be causing the watery poop. It's got a lot more protein in it than dog food. He may have a sensitivity to his dog kibble that's causing this also. Heat can have an effect as can stress. It might be wise to check with your vet, maybe have bloodwork done to rule out any health issues that could cause this. I hope he gets better and you get this figured out! The harness sounds like a good idea for him, good for you!

Kibbles and Bit's isn't the healthiest food to be feeding a dog. You need to try a better quality food from the pet store- such as Science Diet. I know quite a few people who complained of diarrhea when feeding their dogs Kibbles. Try switching the food and keep him away from the cat food (cat food can cause kidney/liver damage in some dogs).

Your dog should be diagnosed by a specialist. There are treatment options, all with varying degrees of success.

Yes, the cat food could be causing the diarrhea. Don't let him get any more of it and see if it goes away.
