We are reading "Rebecca" and a bonus question asked of the class is "Why would Max make a good name for a librarian's dog?" The main character's name is Max du Winter and he has 2 dogs that sleep in the library but could that really be the reason why? I am almost finished with the book and so far that is the only thing I can think of. Any ideas?

Librarians stereotypically live calm, quiet lives--they live to the MIN (minimum).

MAX is the opposite of MIN. I think that fits one of the definitions of irony--there are about a dozen of them.

A min-person has a max-dog.

Your teacher has an answer in mind but this is the kind of question where there is no right answer. Just give a well-thought out complete answer.
