Sheesh, folks, please calm down. I am NOT suggesting that tag be banned, just asking your opinion following up on a news item that tag has been banned in a Colorado school. Supposedly some kids are threatened by being tagged, and so their parents stepped in and had the game forbidden. This is on on Prime Time News today.

No way.
Think about it... when you're attacked, you gain the power. I can't see that as threatening - it's like... a simplification of strength through adversity.
Or I just psychoanalyzing everything too much. I'll just say that I've had a disability ever since I was little, and even I found tag to be a lot of fun.

... You are the sort of mother/teacher who needs to be locked up in a padded room wearing a straight-jacket.
Of course it's not violent! You run around after each other and tap someone to make them "it" and then they chase everyone else! It's the simplest game in the world!!
Why do so many goddamn adults always feel like cushioning their kids like this? Look at the old Disney movies and cartoons, and look at how raunchy some of them were, and look at how well the adults of that generation turned out!! Now we're all stuck with Dora the Explorer and The Suite Life of Zach and Cody and the worst of them all High School Musical, because anything showing any negative aspects of the world besides "I don't like that person and I'm going to make their life a tiny bit difficult for them" is forbidden to show on childrens' television!

Tag was not when I was a kid, Nor were there as many bully's
on the play ground. You must have saw that on the news today, Its been on news before.
One would think the play ground monkey bars etc. would be more of a danger to injury, then "Tag" I guess they are pushing and shoving, instead of a quick touch and run.

What the hell is wrong with people today? Why is tag violent? Would everyone be happy if we never cut the umbilical cord and stayed under our mommy's skirt our whole life? Everyone is too "politicaly correct" and afraid of everything. If this is how our country was when we fought in WW1 and WW2, we would all be speaking German.
Hell no tag is not too violent and should not be "banned" from our schools.

How could "tag" possibly be construed as violent and/or threatening? It is just simple fun. Anything that gets kids running around outside is a very good thing.

no, I don't find it threatening or violent, and no, I don't think it should be banned from school, generations of children played tag, and are just fine, it's a timeless right of passage, and to those whiny a$s people who say different have obviously forgotten the carefree innocent days of their long forgotten youth, and I feel sorry for them, my kids play tag, I enjoy watching it. there are schools in the district we live in that have banned it however, it's sad :(

I feel that games such as tag and dodge ball are great for children.
They make them athletic, competitive, & healthy.
Our society is set up to produce mediocrity at the moment which i feel is very sad.
