We got a used fridge and when we cleand it my hubby used a water hose to wash the exterior and some of the interior. Now we plugged it in about 3 hours now and it doesn't seem to be cooling any. What are some suggestions. The owners said it works great. and you can hear the motor or whatever soon as you cut it on. Is there a certain way i should do anything?

Let it dry out completely. Water and electricity do not mix. However, if it didn't blow smoke or blow the fuse when you turned it on . . . . . . . . . .?

I would never buy a used fridge, but I doubt if it is hurt from the water. Let it dry out for a couple of hours and then try it again and if it doesnt work well - try to get your money back.

The water hose shouldn't affect it. If it's running the water hose has nothing to do with the problem. Set the thermostats to the coolest position and see if it cools. Most people do not get rid of working appliances unless they are moveing or replacing all of them. I suspect they got rid of it because it didn't work properly.

if its running and you can hear or feel the compressor running then check the thermostat

if the compressor is running, thermostat is low, let it run for 24 hours

one sign its working is if the freezer gets cold or will freeze water (if it has one check that the freezer vent if adjustable is open so cold air can get to the refrigerator)

if its running and not getting cold then its probably low on refrigerant or the compressor lost a valve

check the thermostat setting, turn it up to 5 wait 24 hrs ,
he may have gotten water into the fan that is under the cover plate in the freezer section, but give it 24 hrs, first,

Good luck with the fridge....and if it is beyond repair, tell your hubby he messed up and he'll never offer to do it again (to the new fridge!)
