The current one is always the best! I have an orange tabby/Maine coon combination named Rufus. He was born and raised to adulthood in the wild (behind the University of Maine in Augusta) until he was torn up pretty bad in a fight with some other animal and found and taken to a shelter to recover. I took him home from the shelter and promptly thereafter my house burned down. The cat (not then named) went to my uncle's while I looked for a new home. By the time I found a new home the cat (then named "Brutus" by my uncle) had obviously became my uncle's cat. A few years later my uncle passed away in his late 80s and "Rufus" came home with me. He has had a Dickensian life!

Your questions really got me thinking:

Tippie (dog that we made a song about)
Duke (Boxer that chased people)
One Eye (a small 2 foot long Alligator my brother and I dragged home from the lake acrossed the street -- we only had him a few minutes and my mom made us take him back)
Binxie (a really stupid dog)
Maggie ( a wired haired terrier)
Cimmy (A garfield type cat that actually stalked dogs and attacked them)
Sir Tweedsmere of Tinkerbell (a scottish terrier we called Tweedy)
Button

THEN I HAD CHILDREN OF MY OWN AND THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED

Oliver of the North (because we lived in Alaska) but we called him Ollie
Hans and Fritz (2 white mice)
Critter (Hamsters)
Snake (that what he was and that was his name)
Assorted fish that all had names
14 Chickens and roosters that all had names

Bud (a labrador)
Chi (a five point siamese)
Black and White (2 kittens)
Dudley and Daisy (Miniature Dobies)

and now in my senior years I have Belle Kittie my beautiful calico.

My first cat as a child was named Wendy.% years later was a siamese named Sam, he was really my mom's.
20 years ago I had a cat named Tootsie because she had extra duclaws.
!5 years ago I had a Siamese named Annabell with a Himalayan named Abigail. They died of old age. Then I got Gabriel, gabey, and Mc Arthur, mac. hence my name.
Sadly I divorced a year ago and they couldn't live with me in my apartment. My ex loves them too so they are in good care.Gosh, now I'm crying!
I miss them so much!

Childhood cats: Pussy-Mew, Nelson, Rudolph, Uncle
Young Marriage cats: Seymour, Morris
Middle-Age/Senior dogs: Phillip, Ramos, Dufus

dog breeds [in order] Puli, Boxer, Shepherd-mix
cat breeds? who knows! Mostly they were marmalade, calico and smoky-grey. Nelson, however, was pure white - and the only cat I ever met who loved traveling in the car.
