From superhero to psycho.... and the Machinist!! Wow. He's amazing...even did Shakespeare! I know DiCaprio did too...and he is an incredible actor... but I feel like he plays some of his roles very similarly. Bale is so unique in each role.

Both of them are excellent. Christian Bale has a more believeable, mature face though. Then again, Leonardo DiCaprio in the Departed... that's a tough call. I personally like Christian Bale more. American Psycho was awesome.
Well, then again... I think DiCaprio is more versatile an actor. I can't really see Christian Bale playing a romantic role, but I can see DiCaprio doing it. Same with the Gilbert Grape character DiCaprio played... I don't see Bale doing anything like that, but in Harsh Times he had that real crazy thing down. Who knows... they both have their strengths & weaknesses.

I think they are both great actors, but I'm gonna have to go with Leo on this one. I just don't see Christian being that great in the romantic roles, and after seeing Leo play Arnie in What's Eating Gilbert Grape, I think he is an excellent actor! If you have never seen that movie, you should definitely watch it!

DiCaprio in Gilbert Grape? Did you see the performance as Gilbert's brother? Great acting. Talk about versatile.

Christian Bale. DiCaprio is a little too 'pretty boy' for me.

they are both great actors, can't really comment on versatility as I haven't seen Bale in much apart from American Physcho (apart from in Shaft were he played a character that was somewhat similar in many ways).But as for American Physcho he *made* that movie.
DiCaprio is good in almost everything he's in, but not quite as good as Brad Pitt who I feel trumps them both in many respects.
