The fear of being alone. The fear of boredom.

Each why leads to more thought. Each resolved question leads to the next question. It is a way to continue the process of thought which can mostly be used to avoid noticing that one is alone or that one is bored.

For some, inner silence is intolerable. For others, the silence in the presence of others is intolerable.

Of course, the next questions then are why do we fear being alone and why do we fear boredom. And then those answers will lead to more whys.

Why ask why? Try Bud Dry. Anybody remember that commercial? Probably not, it's been a few years. Plus it was annoying, so it's better off forgotten. Anyway, to answer your question, we continue to ask why because we get bored easily. Asking difficult or unanswerable questions gives us something to occupy our minds.

Why did you ask this question? Because we all seek knowledge and understand so when we come aross things we dont know thats where why comes into play.

Curiousity, to confirm and to understand things better. At least, that's the reason why I would ask anything starting with 'why'.
