I babysit a bit in my neighborhood with people I know pretty well and kids that are nice. I don't know CPR, but I do know the Heimlich. I'm not sure CPR is necessary, but if I was give the opportunity to take a CPR course, I would take it. 4-5 dollars an hour per kid sounds about right. If you are babysitting with people that you know, usually you can comprimise on something and once you are an experienced sitter, you'll know pretty much what people are willing to pay you. For the best advice, I would talk to your parents or an adult and see if they have any idea about rates. you can ask them what they paid the babysitters when they babysat you!

It really depends on where you live, and who you are babysitting. I charge $5 an hour when I watch between 2 to 4 kids, but I am CPR certified, and I have experience from watching my sister, and working in my church's nursery, where there is at least 7 babies, every week. It depends on the ages too. If you are going to have to be feeding them and changing diapers, you can charge a little bit more. Often times I just allow the people to decide how much to pay me. Good luck babysitting!

Parents in my town pay on average $10/hr for a sitter. My daughter who is only 10 years old works occasionally as a "mother's helper" and simply occupies and plays with a kid (toddler) while the mom is home. She makes $5/hr and has no real responsibility. The moms still change diapers and make lunches, etc, as they are right there, usually trying to do paperwork, or laundry, or cleaning. My daughter has taken babysitting basics courses, but is not cpr trained.

CPR = not needed, but helps.
I make 7-10 dollars an hour depending on the family, but I've also been in the babysitting business for about 7-8 years.

you really cant charge 4-5 dollars an hour until you have the CPR certification. CPR is definatly very necessary. What would you do if the child you were watching choked? You coldn't wait for the ambulance cause by then the child would have choked to death. Maybe a $1.50 per hr until you get that or maybe not at all. You're taking an awful big risk nt having it.

CPR and first aid are very neccessary I believe. Parents want to know that if their children do choke on something or do stop breathing that their child will be in good hands. I would hire someone with CPR and First aid before I'd hire someone with-out.
With that said you'd be worth no more than 2 to 3 dollars an hour. Up to $5.00 if they have 5 kids.

it all depends on who you are sitting for some people will pay more some less but if you have a set price then you call the shots on that 4$ sound like plenty to me. CPR is not absolutely necessary but it could come in handy, i think you can get free courses too, you might be able to charge more if you have more training.
