If they lie, you can't stay friends with that person. It's just like not meant to be. Also, your just wasting your life with that person. Don't do that. I use to have a friend that use to lie to me a lot. Now, we're not even talking. She has other friends, I don't care. So if your sure that your friend's lying, then don't hang out with that person. Stay away.

I know a few people like the one you describe and well I just don't think you can actually stay "friends". I mean it ends up being more like you are acquaintances because you can't trust them. I just really only talk to them if they talk to me and I try not to be alone with them because you never know what they may tell someone and I just want to have a witness. My husband has a saying that I think fits this situation, " I would rather know a thief than a liar. You can watch a thief but not a liar."

How big is the lie? Is this person a wonderful friend? You have to decide if the gains you receive from this person offset the fact that you will never know if this person is telling the truth.

some people that they have had in their lives had the nerve to believe them at one point or another. they may have had to lie as children to protect someone or prevent abuse..it's psychology involved with this...it could be repression or them thinking that they have to tell the lie because this is what the person wants to hear...some deep stuff, butterfly...i would try confronting the person...they may get defensive..or lie and say that they aren't lying..lolol...can be very annoying and intolerable to a person that may be close friends to this person..

If I were you I would be honest with that friend as to how you feel when you are lied to and ask them why they feel a need to lie. By you not telling that person it bothers you,you are lying to them by omission. That means you are lying to them as well as yourself. Don't let this eat you up. You will feel much better if you confront them now. That way if they truly are a friend, they will be willing to discuss this issue and respect your feelings.

You have to drop hints that you know they are lying. Don't call them on it or they will go to the end of time trying to make you believe it. Lying is a sign of weakness . Its easier to lie than tell the truth for some people

Usually they are lying to get something, or try to avoid being "in trouble" (from my perspective). How do I know someone's lying? Even if I can't prove it, I trust my gut instinct...hasn't been proven wrong over time so far... As far as staying friends, I try to put myself in their shoes and ask why they might be doing it, then put myself back in my own shoes and ask if it's a serious enough thing to stand in the way of our friendship...
Overall, I tell people that lying, stealing, and cussing me out are great ways to not be my friend...

I had a friend like that once. She seemed to lie to get attention. You can still be friends with someone like that, but you can't trust them with secrets. Just because you can't tell them secrets, doesn't mean you can't have a good time when you go out or whatever.

Why would that type of person be a friend, especially if you are true? Over time you may see that someone who is a liar usually believes their lies! Pray - that is the way to get the insight to see lies from truth in vivid black and white. You owe yourself that much!

I had a friend who always used to lie to me. She never lied about anything big, just little things. I always knew she was lying so I would just simply laugh at her and say "I know you're lying." It never really bothered me I guess.
