I agree with you, but he is a great player and is the team Captain who was on the latest championship teams. A lot of people resisted A-Rod coming in taking some of his thunder. Same thing when Reggie Jackson joined the team with Thurman Munson, and when Roger Maris joined with Mickey Mantle. Without question A-Rod is, or someday will be, considered the greatest of all.

As a Red Sox fan, I don't usually have many positive things to say about the Yankees, but as a baseball fan I am able to recognize talented players. Derek Jeter is definitely not overated. He has been a solid all around player on one of the best teams to play the game. The Yankees haven't won a world series in quite a few years but he has been one of the constants on that team. The Yankees constantly swap out thier players and buy new talent when they think they need it. Money has never been an issue. If Derek Jeter were not worth it, they would have found someone better by now. The Yankees are not historically known for keeping players out of loyalty. For those that think he would not have gotten as much attention if he weren't on the Yankees, I hope you realize he wouldn't have been on the Yankees if he wasn't that good.

Jeter has done a lot more than hit a lot of home runs, RBI or hit over .320 every season.
He has helped the Yankees win the World Series 4 times(1996 and 1998-2000), the AL Pennant 2 times (2001 and 2003), the AL Eastern Division 10 times (1996 and 1998-2006)
Jeter is also an 8 time All-Star, 1996 AL Rookie of the Year, 2000 All-Star Game MVP, 2000 World Series MVP, 3 time Gold Glove Award winner and won the 2006 Silver Slugger Award.
Jeter led the AL in Runs (127) in 1998, Hits (219) in 1999, Singles in 1997 and 1998, Times on Base in 1999 and 2006.
He's a .317 career hitter and has almost 1,400 runs.
If he did that for any other team they would love him too.

So what if he hits 10 to 15 HRs each season. Hes still clutch in important moments. You dont need HRs and RBIs to be the best! And a batting average of .320 each season is very, very good.

If you understood the game, which apparently you don't, you'd understand that Jeter's job is to "GET ON BASE". Something he does extremely well. A number two hitter is supposed to score runs and that's what he does better than anyone else. A number two hitter is NOT supposed to hit 50 home runs a year or drive in 150 runs or don't you get it??
How can a lifetime .318 hitter who will eventually join the 3000 hit club toward the end of his career be called "overrated"? Jeter is the captain of the most pressure packed franchise in all of sports.............period!! He has managed to be part of 6 American League Pennants and 4 World Series Championship teams. Yea, he's overrated alright!!
I love it when you "baseball experts" come in here and show everyone just how really uninformed you are. Let's face it, you just hate the Yankees. That, after all, is why you posted this chicken scratch.

I don't think he is god. I don't think anyone is god. Jeter is a clutch player, and a future Hall of Famer. He might even become the first Yankee to have 3000 hits in his career. He was also the only Yankee to win the All Star Game MVP. The Yankees and the fans are lucky to have him. I think he is a great player, but I don't think he is god.

Is he overrated? Yes.
But, look at what he has done for the team and the community.
He has the respect for 100's of players and managers.
He is as clutch as a player can be.
His offense is amazing, he bats .300 or more basiccly every year.
He almost always makes the All Star team.
He makes a lot of web jem plays.
Me? I dont think he's god but I think he's great.
Besides, can you hit 10-15 homeruns every year? Yeah, I thought so.

We have Arod AND Jeter so that isn't an issue.
Jeter plays hard every game, throws himself into the stands for balls, makes hustle plays that nobody else could make, hits over 300 year after year starts rallies, hits crucial home runs, is a model citizen on and off the field. What's not to love about him? Isn't that the kid of ball player every always wants on their team?

hes not supposed to hit for power, how do you expect a #2 hitter do rack up 100 RBIs anyhow? .320 is a great average, and he is one of the best fielders in the game. plus he is charismatic. i do think he is overrated though.
