No, he is getting his just desserts - he did something he shouldn't have, in a public place and was caught. It might have gone on for years if he had kept things behind closed doors.
He deserves his punishment, and in fact, all in the Political Arena should have the same punishments placed on them, if they can't hold their heads high, and stay out of trouble then they need to be asked to resign.
That's about it in a nutshell.

The flip-side of that coin is the ruckus that would have been generated by the DNC had they NOT pushed for his resignation.
He plead guilty to a crime... albeit a misdemeanor, but still a crime. His subsequent claims that he didn't do it, didn't know what he was pleading to are horse-biscuits.
The GOP needs to BE strict on their party members... Cunningham, Vitter, DeLay, Foley... not to mention Rove, Libby, and Gonzalez IF we want to point a finger at the Dems.
I personally think Senator Craig IS a closet-homosexual, and therefore an INCREDIBLE hypocrite and therefor UNFIT to serve.

I do. Sen. Craig committed a low level misdemeanor that he could plead to and pay his fine by mail, which he did).
Republican Congressmen Duke Cunningham and Bob Ney took millions in bribes were allowed to stay in Congress until they were convicted, and they're now serving eight and three year prison terms respectively.
Four more Republican Congressmen are currently under investigation for felonies and they still have their seats: Sen Ted Stevens (R-Alaska), Rep. Jerry Lewis (R-Calif), Rep. John Doolittle (R-Calif) and Rep. Rick Renzi (R-Ariz).
Sen Vitner (R-Louisiana) used a prostitute service for kinky sex and fathered a child out of wedlock. He still has his seat and there is no outcry to remove him.
So the Republican's rush to judgment on Craig is not because he did something wrong, it's because he attempted to commit a gay act.

I fail to see how railroading Craig would do anything to help the GOP. Now the Dem's on the other side.

No matter if he's innocent or not, the GOP national committee can't afford any negative press involving any of their candidates in this election season.
I'm sure someone will offer to pay his legal fees up to the point where he caves in quietly and ends any appeal.
I hope he has a private sector job to fall back on. He'll be needing it fast!

I don't think they have much choice. Senator Craig screwed up big time and even the GOP....yes, even that pack of moral weasels, won't lower the bar THAT far for a US senator to remain in office.
So in this rare instance, my compliments to the GOP for having SOME standards, at least just this once.
So the new GOP standard is:
You can pass all the legislation you want against American citizens who want to marry someone of the same sex, and you can take photo ops of yourself kneeling in Church, but you can't do that AND get a ******** in a public restroom at the same time.

I think most of us agree that, if approached by Senator Craig, it is wise to cover one's back side. If not, one may find out what railroading is REALLY about. (Come on, ride the train, it's a choo-choo!)

ME I see nothing that ever warranted his arrest. I am sick of RINOs like Coleman and McCain throwing conservatives under the bus.

Railroaded? Hardly.
He plead guilty to a crime and never told anyone, hoping that it would "just go away".
Now that it's reached the public eye, and he's become a shining example of conservative hypocrisy, the Republicans have tossed him aside like a used condom.
Republicans are scared schitless about the upcoming election cycle, and are worried about holding onto power.

If this guy did not already have a past where he is known for having sex with a Paige, then I might feel sorry for the guy....
...republican leaders are tired of "covering" for the guy....so this guy can come out of the closet, and quit living a double life!
...I hear the Dems would be glad to take him! why not just switch parties? and get away with immorality?
