My friend has a so called "boyfriend" on imvu. I guess they talk online all the time and she called him like once. Is that really a boyfriend? She denies that she is going out with anyone but she told me. He lives in a different state and they have no plans on meeting. She is only 15. Is that really a boyfriend.......or what is it??????

First off, you cannot date online! Dating is something 2 people do when they are actually in the same space and time. It's called - reality.

Second, considering the number of preditors that are online 'pretending' to be your 'friend', I'd tell her to be very careful!!!!!

There is nothing wrong with people talking online to friends they've already met face to face - school chums, family members, etc., but if you've never met someone, then how do you REALLY know who they are??

This fella she's chating with cannot be called a b/f. He is only a faceless name, with a profile created to 'catch' someone's interest. To lure you in.

Tell her to please be careful and that under no circumstances should she ever give anyone online, her real name, address, phone number or any personal information.

Each year hundreds of young people get lured into some very dangerous situations, by sexual preditors who appear to be your friend and confidante. Don't let your friend, or you, or anyone you know, become a statistic!!

No, that's not really a boyfriend. You can't have a boyfriend or girlfriend if your only contact is online. That's a long distance relationship and you can talk yourself into believing it's more than what it really is. Also, until you meet someone in person, they can lie to you online all they want.

Now, I DID meet my husband in a chat room, and we only chatted for 3-5 months. When we met, it became real. The key was that he was always honest with me. He never lied about himself or his interests or his beliefs.

For now, he's just a casual friend. Hopefully he's being truthful with her.

no your friend doesn't really have a boyfriend. men and women, girls and boys need to be careful with whom they are talking too online. yes its nice to have "so-called" friends online but these people who live out of state are far from being a true friend.

idk, to some people it could be..i guess if they feel baout each other the same way she would feel about someone shes actually met, then maybe..i mean, a friend over the internet is no less real then a friend you can talk to face to face...but then again, alot of the point of being with someone is the ho;ding hands, kissing, huggind, and soon..kind of aspect..so i guess if she thinks it is real and he makes her happy then you should just go with her opinion..lol<3
