Not so much a direct corellation, as both often stem from similar underlying mindsets.
Many people are fundamentally afraid of many things -- or a few things -- and use bluster and bravado as a way of covering up their fear.
But that's not always the case -- some people use bluster and bravado because of their arrogance or high levels of confidence -- without any underlying foundation of fear.
As for political candidates -- it's pretty standard for any candidate to bluster -- part of the expected behavior.
