Do you mean "panted" as in to put pants on a tree or to sneak up behind a tree who is already wearing pants and yank them down to embarass the tree in front of its friends? The first one I've never done and the second one I did a few years ago on Vashon Island.

Panted a tree or painted a tree? You know its hard to pant them because you've only got one trunk (usually) so it looks all funny what with the one leg waving in the breeze. Now painting trees, that's different. My grandmother had a house on a hill that overlooked the highway. Beside the house were four or five huge oak trees. We would paint the trees as high up as we could reach with white wash. Gramma said this was so the people passing on the highway could see them. Now I think it was something to keep us busy.

I hope that you meant planted. We planted one just about one month ago. A lovely red maple in the front yard.
