What would I need to create my own miniature golf course?

I have plenty of land in my backyard and was looking for suggestions on what I need to get started and what I could use to set up my own course.

Visit a few courses and look. Do you want to go with one theme, or multi themes?

Do you want water like fountains, ponds, etc?

How will you keep the neighborhood urchins out? Do you intend to open it to the public for rental? Is this allowed in your neighborhood?

Will it be easy to clean/maintain?

How many holes do you want-- 10 or 19?

A putting green with professional grass might be a better use of your lawn, and you can build a "short-distance" driving range as well. They use them on the roofs of buildings in Tokyo for the executives.
