I know how to change it and i know what it is. If i change my IP address, would that screw anything up on my computer?

if you changed any setting in your local properties...like subnet mask or default gateway...you could lose your internet connection if you entered wrong data...if you just changed your local ip address and it doesnt conflict with another ip address...thats just fine .

It is possible to change your own network IP address, but not your internet IP address. If you do this, nothing bad will happen to your computer. I would not recommend doing it for no reason, as it may screw up other devices on your network, but do whatever I guess.

I dont think you get to choose your IP adress unless youre using a proxy. Only other way to get a new IP adress is basically just turning off and back on or hitting reset on your modem and a new IP adress will be assigned. Using a proxy or a vpn will get you around a server ban

no it won`t screw up your computer, if fact if your on dial-up your ip address is different every time you log on to the internet, if your on cable it usually stays the same ip address unless you change it or unplug your cable modem from the wall for about 30 minutes and let the DCHP assign it to another connection

If you change your modem or router your ip address will change but you lose nothing.

no, However the government gets notified whenever someone changes their IP, they notify local police and they investigate.
