Are you sure you saw and/or bought the SAME computer?
Many computers look exactly the same, especially if the only difference is something like the RAM or something that doesn't have an obvious visual difference. You may have accidentally bought the wrong one; that's hardly the store's fault!
Many store ads, whether on paper or on the 'net, often display a disclaimer, usually in very small print, indicating that the pictured item may not match the actual item. This is due to the item not being available in advance, so the ad may show a picture of the manufacturer's prototype or comparable picture. There is nothing wrong with this, as long as there is a disclaimer somewhere in the store, ad, or website (even if the disclaimer isn't in the ad, you'd be hard- pressed to prove not only any "fraud", but that you were physically and/or mentally and/or financially damaged by the alleged "fraud").
Is it possible that the ad for the unit requires an after-purchase upgrade via a rebate and/or mail-in coupon?
If you already bought it, then the packing slip should clearly indicate what you got. Regardless, BEFORE you bring it home, just look at the package! If it doesn't match what you thought you were getting, then either refuse delivery and get your money back, or purchase the right one, or ask for a refund of the difference, assuming you really did buy one model, but received a less expensive one. Then, if/when you bring the unit home, just turn the computer on and see what it indicates in the system information (keep in mind that it may subtract a little from the actual RAM amount).
In conclusion, I think you're jumping to conclusions. Legitimate retailers, like the one indicated in your question, would go out of business if they "cheated" customers. Worse case scenario: they made a "boo-boo"! Take a deep breath, chill, and enjoy your new "toy"!

Either it was mislabeled at the store, or you read it wrong, because there are NO Core 2 Duos at 3.2Ghz, there are Pentium Ds at that speed, but if it was a Core 2 Duo it was not 3.2Ghz. Despite what thomas b said, that is a pretty nice computer, don't be fooled by just Ghz, there is far more to speed that just Ghz. The only weak link I see is the ATI video card, that is a low end one not suited for gaming, but otherwise, it is a good computer.

It is probably an upgraded CPU chip from the specs on the website. Most manufacturers allow you to customize your pc, including the ability to choose the microprocessor in your pc. The base model is probably a 2.2 ghz with the option to upgrade to a 3.2ghz. So yes, the same model can have different ghz, it all depends on what you order.

The same model number can have multiple configurations. I run into this when I order HP laptops from CDW. The same model number can be configured with Intel chips or AMD chips, have more RAM or different RAM and any other number of configurations. I would just look at your order and check the specs there and then compare it to the machine they give you at Best Buy. Don't search by the model number because you'll get multiple configurations.

It could have been reconfigured. Your best bet is to get on the one on display in the store. Go to system properties, this will bring up the CPU info. And make sure that if you buy it the sales receipt reflects the size CPU. That way when you get it home and set it up, check the system properties to verify it is what you paid for.

BestBuy has been prosecuted by many state attorneys general for dishonest trade practices. So has CircuitCity.
There are three sources for computers that I recommend *everyone* avoid:
1. BB
2. CC
3. Someone you've never heard of, on ebaY.

No 2.2GHZ is that computer speed, no if and or buts. You probaly looked at the wrong card, ive done that before. And to be honest that computer is crap. For a good processor it should say 2x2 MB l2 cache otherwise youll see a performance lag. Please email me with the link to the computer and what u want it for and ill tell you if its worth it. email me at tpb@cox.net Bestbuy has been known to have their computers for looks not performance. Especially with those idiot geek squads. Ive been an IT guy for over 10 years so u can trust me

i might 2d this. Compressed air is sturdy for cleansing out desktops. Take the pc exterior, although. i might commence with a vacuum purifier with hose attachment. get rid of the massive clumps of the dirt with a vacuum, then blow the the rest dirt with compressed air. be careful the place the dusty air blows. you do no longer pick dirt in optical drives or fan bearings.
