Yes! It is definitely the right thing to do. In fact, i think it would be nice if smoking anywhere was illegal! If smoking was illegal, lives would be saved. and not just the lives of the smokers. secondhand smoke can hurt you

That would be an invasion of invidual freedom. Why make more and more laws? The more laws we make, the more of a police state we will become. And if people want to endanger their lives by smoking, then let them. When the smoking is in public and second hand smoke is an issue I can understand banning it because then it is an invasion on the freedoms of others who choose not to smoke. That law could never fully be enforced anyway, and the ones who do get punished would be based on selective prosecution and that wouldn't be fair. Making new laws isn't as easy as you think. You have to look at all the social ramifications and consider that Americans have rights under the Constitution that are protected and laws can not conflict with it.

It would be as successful as prohibition. Smoking would go underground and it would create a whole new area for criminals to make money and exploit people. (As if the tobacco companies don't exploit them enough.)
I think cities should allow there to be smokers only bars. Then smokers have their place to go and non-smokers theirs and the clientele will decide which will succeed.
Let people smoke in their own home, in their own cars, in their own yards, and outdoors (at a decent distance from public entrances to buildings and as long a careful in areas where fires are a danger).
If smokers were a little more conscientious about the fact that the smoke bothers others, then there would probably be fewer attempts to prohibit smoking.

What is in cigarettes that's harmful? Carbon Monoxide.
The average automobile can produce more carbon monoxide in one day than a pack a day smoker produces in 6 months. So do we start sending motorists to prison. If we sent smokers to prison we would literally bankrupt the country from the cost of having to build new facilities to house our 10 year residents at an average of $38,000 per year, per smoker. I really think we should focus on finding ways of producing vehicles that don't rely on fossil fuels. They produce more carbon monoxide than any other thing on earth.

How many people are we going to put in prison for all the dumb PC laws coming up?
I don't like smoking but I don't think we should start putting people in prison for smoking cigarettes.
