There are millions of birds in the world. Where do the old ones go when they die. The only dead birds I ever see are the ones that the cat caught. Where do all the others go when they go to birdy heaven. Considering how many there are in the world, why dont you see them dropped all over the place.

Because birds in the wild do not get old and die of old age. When anything dies naturally in the wild, it is because it has been snatched up live by a predator and eaten, or as soon as it dies it is taken away by another wild animal. That is why you usually don't see dead birds. If you do, it's usually a bad thing and indicates a disease outbreak or a distubance in the balance of the natural food chain.

I observed a songbird that died from smacking into a window once.
It's body lay on the roof and took a time period of two weeks to disappear
. The flies come and lay eggs, maggots appear, and eat the flesh,.
All that is left is feathers and bones.
Other birds and insects carry off the feathers for nesting material.
Wild animals of all sorts eat the bones for the calcium content contained in them.

Once a bird dies...it's body is quickly eaten by other animals, insects or scavenger birds such as ravens, crows, and larger birds would be eaten by vultures as well. I once witnessed a large dead wild pig be eaten over the course of 2 days. Nothing left but the spinal cord and skull after this time.

The few dead birds I've seen had ants swarming all over them so I would guess it's dismantled fairly quickly and becomes food for everything else.
