I am against it because I am always against government interference in the private sector. If you can't afford it you shouldn't have bought it and shouldn't be able to keep it at my expense.

I am against it.
If Bush really wanted to help, he would offer guarantees on a portion of the loans so the people that owe on the mortgages could get good loans on them instead of subprime loans which is nothing more than preying upon people with poor credit, and making it even harder for them to improve their credit ratings.
and to the guy above me, people don't have less than good credit scores, only because they have screwed up. Subprimes are also to prey on people who haven't established credit as well.
I don't call paying for everything in cash, and never establishing credit, as a screw up do you?

No politician (and anyone connected to him) who wants to use my tax money for this bailout is ever getting mine and my family's vote as long as we live. I am furious. NO BAILOUT. There is no difference between bailing out the lender or the borrower.

I am against it. I dislike the government involvement in mortgage lending as it is. The government should not be guaranteeing loans for people who have screwed up and taken loans they cannot afford.
Individuals who took out loans and the mortgage companies that gave them out should have to reap what they have sown.

This seems to me to be as much of an effort to bail out the mortgage companies as helping the individuals that are about to loose their homes.
