Mine are both gone (1991 & 2001), but my Dad & I were strained for a few years...
He wouldn't let me seek a degree in Theater Arts in the design / technical aspects. He felt it was too "soft" a degree that wouldn't have good job opportunities. He had a PhD in Electrical Engineering.
I switched to History, ended up joining the Navy as a helicopter crewman / rescue swimmer because my money ran out, and we patched things up.
Amusingly, I ended up being a telecommunications engineer after the Navy.

With my mom, we dont get along that well. She likes to treat me like a kid and tell me what to do with my kids and other things. She doesnt respect my decsions and how I want to do things. She thinks everything she says is right.
