thinking of opening a daycare. it will not be at my house... i plan to employ 4-5 people(so 16-20 kids) fulltime. do i have to offer my employees health insurance?

No, a lot of small business don't .... most cant afford it.

No. But if you want your employees to stick around and not have to go through the hassle of constantly interviewing and replacing employees who have quit, you should consider offering it. Also if you are going into the daycare business you must have very good insurance for your company, so maybe since you will be paying very high rates for your company, the insurance carrier may cut you a little slack on providing this benefit for your employees. But don't count on it.

No companies are required to offer health insurance, regardless of the size or the state. Companies offer it to compete for employees.

No, any business with that few employees doe's not have to offer any benefits.

Yes, if you can't offer basic benefits then don't open a business.

Check with our state, but if you were in Utah the answer is No. You arent big enough.

I highly doubt that you would in any state.
