Start picking up little things that you know he will love or you will love for your little baby. Diapers, a beautiful soft blanket, crib sheets, anything you didn't get at a shower that you wish you had to care for your child.
This is a great time to have what YOU feel you need for your precious little one. He won't know the difference, but have things that are soft are always wonderful and make terrific memories in pictures. Little stuffed animals are great too.
Take tons of pictures and enjoy the upcoming holidays.
Blessings, Patti

My son was 3 months at Christmas. Don't spend a lot. I would buy maybe 2 or 3 toys for the 6+ and up age group and some clothes. We bought so many and he didn't care for any of them and had no idea what was going on. Christmas this year and even next year is for you, not for the child. The toy below was my son's favorites at that age.

For my son he was about 5 month last christmas and he loved the tree I think he was fascinated with the lights the most so I made sure I had a really pretty tree for him i only bought a few clothes and one or two toys i only spent 100 dollars probly less than that family gave me so many clothes and toys that I really did not have to buy him but one or two things just as long as you take lots of pictures with him under the tree I think that should be good for his first christmas good luck

Buy him Baby Einstein DVDs, toys with bright colors and clothes. Don't go crazy but just buy him a lot of clothes, a few toys, books, a bouncer, a stocking, bear or ordiment that says "Baby's First Christmas" on it. and a Baby Einstein DVD and you'll be set. I'm sure he'll be getting a lot of gifts from reltives so don't worry. He's still young so don't have him be fussed about Christmas until he's about 1 or 2. Take loads of pictures and video tape.

Good Luck!

Remember, a baby who can't understand cost can't understand the worth of anything as well. Just buy some nice comfortable, nice looking clothes (if you are the kind of mother who has friends that like to play with the baby) or a toy, binky, rattle, etc...
A nice thing would be to take pictures (as suggested by the others :) ) or videotape the Christmas day, so you can pop it in one day for the family to watch. That way, it acts as a present for all.

P.S.

Don't use the video when the baby's friends are over many years from now. :)

You should probably get him a "Baby's First Christmas" ornament, it's a good keepsake, take a lot of pictures, and get him some cute holiday one-sies. Maybe get a mobile or something, a rattle or two, but children at that age don't really need a lot of toys... he'd probably be more happy in a Huggie's cardboard box.

No one remembers their first Christmas, but you'll always remember it. And remember, you don't have to spend a lot of money to make it a memorable Christmas.

You don't have to spend much but record it so you can show him later on in his life when he will understand what he got...my mother did that and I laughed so hard at some of the gifts because she intentionally made it funny like she still does(she gets me ketchup every year because I absolutely love ketchup). Start up a savings account for him that can build up interest that he can use when hes older. Also take him to a store and whatever he wants get him but don't let him have it until Christmas. Your son will love anything you give him no matter what...

Last christmas my son was 10 months old. We didnt get him very much because we knew he didnt understand the concept and as long as he had something to play with he would be okay. He had about 6 or 7 things from us, but of course more from the family. He got books and anything that made music and noise. he loved it!

We always planned to do very little and then went overboard (we aren't very well off or anything). I think the best idea is to get him things that you know he needs (even diapers, formula, clothes, small books) and wrap them. He'll have the most fun just seeing the bright colors and watching everyone have fun on Christmas. Take pics and have a good time.

Treat him as though he does know what Christmas is. That's how he'll learn. Buy him clothes and toys and whatever else he likes/needs. Try not to spoil him though, and spend too much or get him too much things. That's the problem with kids these days, they are too spoiled, and when parents spoil them at a early age, it's harder to fix them later on.
