You have to make an effort to pull your tummy in, hold your shoulders back and down and keep your head up whenever you remember. It'll be difficult at first as the muscles won't be used to that position but persevere and it should become second nature. Pilates is a really good way to strengthen the muscles needed for good posture.

My Nan and Grandad used to say that if you walked around with a book on your head then it teaches you good posture as you have to stand up straight and square to balance it on your head.
To get a good posture you should try to hold your shoulders back and pull your stomach in and that should help.
Yoga and pilates are both very good for your posture.

I spent 12 years in Russian method ballet. When we first started, we were told to pretend that there was a string running up through the middle of us all the way through the top of our head and being pulled straight and tall. Also, make sure you hold your shoulders back and your neck long and head high- make sure you hold your tummy in a bit, too- even if you're thin, as it strengthens your "core" muscles. Pretty soon it will become second nature and you'll actually look younger as you age- probably way off, but it WILL happen! I'm 53!
