Because they are protected under the childrens act, nobody wants to be responsible for someone getting hold of those children and hurting them because they aren't old enough to defend themselves (apparently)
However in some cases i.e. the killers of Jamie Bulger, the murderers are named, in which case it costs a lot of money to get those murderers new identities to protect them... cheaper just to keep their names a secret from the get-go

You are incorrect, actually. If a person under age 18 is charged as an adult, their names are released. When, in 1998, two youths, ages 11 and 13 murdered 5 people at West Side school in Jonesboro, AR, their names were released.

I'm not sure your assertion is correct. Often, once convicted, the judge will remove the restrictions and name them (see Thompson and Venables who murdered Jamie Bulger when they were aged 10) Prior to conviction, the law prevents children being named for very sensible reasons.

Most states, now, allow anyone 16 and over to be tried as an adult if the crime is premeditated or heinous. And they are named.

If they are tried as a juvenile they usually are not but if they are made to appear in regular court and tried as an adult they are named.

Because the country is run by ultra liberal do gooders. They have no feeling for the heinous acts committed by these criminals. One wonders if these do gooders where to be the victims of these cretins what would happen.

I have no idea because I think they should be accountable as every other criminal is for the crime that they commit.
