If I were President (I'm thinking of the United States, is what you mean), I would make ending the addiction to oil that industrialized nations have the number 1 priority. I would do this through promoting and implementing new technology, increasing the use of energy sources that do not require oil (solar, wind, hydro, new technology, etc...), and appealing to everyone with incentives and just plain common sense. The oil reserves of the U.S. have dwindled far below what they once were, and the U.S. is far from being anywhere near the number 1 spot (as it once was) as far as current oil reserves are concerned. Any historian can tell you that things do not look good for the United States. In essence, the U.S. and the Western Industrialized Nations are being held hostage by OPEC, and threatened in various ways by others who either have or in the process of creating larger populations and economies. Even if the supply of oil can last for several more decades, the price of oil is going to escalate beyond affordiblity to both the average consumer and to businesses. Therefore, it is in the best interest of the United States and her allies to create an energy industry that is not subject to oil ASAP, and that shall lead us all to a brighter future and not a dismal past. It seems this issue of oil dependence has arisen at least a couple of times in recent history (the 1970s oil embargo, and today with the Iraq and Persian Gulf wars). Everytime, we manage to accomodate the price increases, yet we fail to solve the problem at its source. Even now, there is talk of how the Europeans pay much more for the price of oil than Americans, so why can't the Americans? OK, great. Jack up the price of oil in America to 6 dollars or over, over the next few years and hope the world remains relatively peaceful. Yet this does not solve the problem. The sleeping giant (the United States) goes back to sleep and the problem is not solved or even considered until the next disaster.

If I were president, I would not want anyone who followed me to have to deal with the current situation, and, given the seriousness of the current crisis. I would want to solve this problem ASAP.

If the problem of oil dependence could be solved, the results would be dramatic and long lasting. I would go about solving all the major problems facing the United States in this way, boldly and with a better future for the U.S. and the world in mind, as a true leader would, where the results would be dramatic and long lasting and allow for a better future for future generations.

I would like my own *** and kick out all the illegal immigrants from the United States with their kids, even though that their kids are legal citizens, so that they can be with their parents and they won't be "an kid without an parent or parents". I will make sure that the illegal immigrants like the Mexicans from Mexico will not be above the law and will be treated as everybody else in this country. I don't care If they have a bad government or If they don't know English, They should be legal citizens of the United States and learn English so they they can get a better job. My Dad is from Italy and he has to work his *** work to be an legal citizen of the United States, But the illegal immigrants are taking a advices of us and they are not even doing the half of work that my dad did to become an legal citizen. I am not racist against Mexicans, Chinese, or any other race but I am against to illegal immigrants for not even trying to become an legal citizen of the United States and to work their *** off. I am sick and tired to hear or to see Spanish on products and this is America guys, Not Mexico, China or even the Philippines. For you guys, I am ok that you want to live in this country, but you have to earn it and actually desire it to live here. If you become an legal citizen, you will have a better life and who knows, maybe you can become successful and to life here with no struggles. But you have to work hard to get the things you want.

Of course (the obvious) end the war and bring all the troops back......feed them and party hardy!!!lol Then I would feed all the hungry people in the U.S......get rid of "projects" that are useless and put that extra money in a bank so that it would draw interest so that we could use that money for scientific research that would be beneficial. I would make marijuana legal and tax it to death.....stopping drug wars. Then I would have everyone here that isn't a U.S. citizen take a test to become a U.S. citizen. And what would you do????

We're not gonna solve everybody's problems and it seems the longer our troops are in Iraq and other places, the more hostility it's provoking in the extremist groups and innocent people become more and more of a target as a result of it.

i would do a lot of things and i bet half of them sadly the president doesn't have the power to do. 1st i would clean the aftermath of Katrina and i would stop reality shows that give away money and use that money for education and poor and homeless.
