Yes, I know that to be a fact. We tend to take advantage of a good thing and vise versa.
Never let your heart rule logical thinking. Get up sweetie, dust yourself off and refuse to live this way again.
Once, long ago, I was so hurt by my fiance. He sent me a bus ticket to come visit at his AFB.. After a couple days, With his best male friend along, he put me back on a bus & sent me home. He would not answer any questions or explain Why or What ?? What I CAME TO REALIZE IS I WAS HURT FOR MORE BY THE REJECTION BY HIM~~~THEN I WAS BY LOSS OF LOVE FROM HIM.~ I did demand respect from him and if it was about that, it was never love anyway & I was better off without him.
Be sure you read that twice. I got over it & his Mother told me yrs. later a girl he cared for, did him the same way, he did me.
God Bless All You Good People Out There~~~~~Jill

Yes, as the song say " you don't what you've got till it's gone"
I know what you are going thru right now, and although my situation may have been different, me being the one that left, often times missed what we had. However, now that I have someone else , I realize it was the material things I was missing, not the person. Now I don't have all of the material things and the life style I was use to, but I have happiness and emotional contentment.

That's absolutely true at a young age, and some people may never learn appreciation, but I think the majority of people do. I believe after one huge loss of a relationship, a close death, or the material loss of something dear, like your home, you find a new appreciation for such things in the future. I know I did.

This is difficult one. In normal circumstances I would have said you should stay because it is no point just being there when everything is fine. However, because he tossed his drink on your face in public, it shows he is unstable and if he could do that to you in public, just imagine what he could do behind closed doors. This is something I could never do unless you through a drink on me first. Nevertheless, it looks like he is willing to get help, so it shows a step in the right direction. On the whole I would say you did the right thing because he needs to be able to cope by himself always he will always see you as the perfect person to get him out of whatever problem he has, and none of us are perfect.

It's like that long pass in the big playoff game...the person is wide open and looking the pass into the hands...and....takes a glance at the end zone...the ball is bobbled and drops to the ground....and nothing can be done to recreate that perfect play ever again....it can be runs dozens of times in other games, and it just will never, ever be the same.

Yes and no.
Some know what they have and Cherish it; others don't fully realize what they have and then when they lose it; that is when they see the light.
But, chances are they are just human and humans are not perfect.

I think people get so used to being with someone they have been with for a long time and begin to take them for granted. I know me and my husband do. I wouldn't know what to do if something happened and we weren't together. 23 years is a long time to be with one person.

most people are that way. when they look back at things they sold, or people they let out of their lives, they tend to regret letting these things and people go. all too often we take people and things for granted, until they are gone.

i do... and it's so sad... we need a level or awareness to appreciate what we have while we have it...!
i learned that when i left my country and missed everything good i used to have... i decided to enjoy the good in every new situation rather than just feel sorry for the past!
thanx... love you all
