He may be going through a growth spurt. They commonly happen about 4-7 weeks. See if he is eating more at other times too.

Hey np, when was the last time you had a baby???? Newborns NEVER sleep through the night.... they NEED to be fed every 2 HOURS when they first come home and will let you know in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS that they WANT to be fed....... then as they get older, the amount of food intake increases and the amount of time they wake up DECREASES.... I am 57 and have given birth AND taken care of many newborns in my day and trust me NONE of them ever slept through the night until they were at LEAST a month old or more...... it's unusual that they sleep through the night at 2 weeks but NOT abnormal.... babies tend to sleep when they want to and wake up the same way... when they start sleeping through the night for GOOD depends on the baby, the schedule he or she is on and how much food they are given before bedtime.

When babies are first born they usually do sleep through-out the night If they didn't I would be concerned but as weeks go on they're schedule changes.. They become more alert for instance and it's totally normal..

He may be going through a growth spurt. If your breastfeeding then he's trying to build up your supply. if you're formula feeding he's just wanting the extra calories. Keep these awakings as quiet as possible. Don't talk to him and try to avoid eye contact. He'll eat and go right back to sleep. Then as he gets a little bigger he'll hopefully drop these middle of the night feedings.

It's really normal.

He'll eventually start sleeping through the night again!

Good luck!

Changes in sleep patterns can often precede a new milestone.
