I've tried windows media player and I get the sound but no picture.

From the sounds of it , it's probably a codec issue. So i would suggest opening your movie with another application such as real video, or divx or win amp etc. Good luck.

You may have to try different media players. Also, go back and check where you got the downloaded movie from and check what kind of movie players are needed to play these movie on since all movies are different from one to the next.

Seems u dont have the rite codecs installed in ur system...
there are 2 options..
1.U download a codec pack like K-lite codec pack
2.U download and use the VLC Media Player
Google them... and download them...
Personally i suggest u use option 2 since it has pre-installed almost every codec there is and is highly reliable... it plays almost everything....

try quicktime or iTunes if u have it
