From the nearest calculations, there appear to be more stars than grains of sand.
This is based upon estimations as precise counts are impossible to obtain.
I must express my disappointment at those who come on and say 'way more' or 'do the math' while tallpaul presents a website which includes the math and receives a thumbs down.

Yeah that's true. We can only see for a few million year out in all directions with th naked eye and there are at the very least a couple of hundred billions of stars in just our galaxy. There are billions of galaxies.
As Carl Sagan said, billions and billions.
Yeah, there are more stars than there are grains of sand on our beaches.

It,s true so they say. Consider that our own Milky Way galaxy is estimated to have at least 300 billion stars times the number of galaxies in the entire universe and I,d say all the beaches in the world can hardly compare with whatever that number would be if it were able to be counted.

It is true. The universe is infinite and uncontained, but since the earth is a container, in effect, the sand is contained by the Earth and there is a precise number of the amount of sand possible. Since the stars are uncontained, they are infinite and there are many, many more than there are grains of sand.

Whenever I think about the universe it makes my head hurt. It has too many unaswered questions, and I am a perfectionist and have to have an answer for everything. I believe it could b true as we have no idea what is out there, but at the same time...that is a whole lot of stars!!

i can be true, then a again, who counts all the grain of sand in the world. Its porbably symbolic, that the universes is infintate, and that we can't grasp the thought.
