Freedom has to have boundaries, or it is anarchy and chaos. However, what those boundaries are constantly change with the times. What is disrespectful and abusive depends on the belief.
For instance, many think that what homosexuals consider as freedoms are disrepectful (gay marriage). I think they should have this right, but Gay Marriage wasn't even a thought some 30 or 40 years ago.
Many believe that killing in the name of religion is not abusive. While this is not a popular belief now, if you think about The Crusades, it was considered a must.
The point is, the debate on your question has gone on for years and will continue till the end of time.

There is nothing called freedom. We are born in bondage and die in bondage. As soon as a child is born he is tied with the bonds of love with his parents and all through his life he has to conform with societal norms. Then there is the conscience which keeps us chained which in fact is a good thing. Freedon as is generally understood comes with great responsibilty.

Freedom is a delusion.
I am prisoner on this planet. I cannot freely choose to leave. I am prisoner to this solar system, I cannot simply pack up and leave. I am prisoner to an ecosphere that keeps in certain areas of the world.
I am a prisoner in this country. Even one law that prohibits any action on my part is a violation of my freedom.
