it is -2(2x-6) no 3(2x-8)- 2(2x-6)

2007-09-01 07:56:27 · update #2

you guys it is 3(2x-8)
-2(2x-6) so shouldnt i distrubute the negative sign too causing it to be
(6x-24)(-4x-12)

11 answers

6x - 24 - 4x + 12 = x + 60
x = 84 - 12
x = 72

2007-09-01 07:51:34 · answer #1 · answered by Como 7 · 1 0

first distribute and combine like terms
(6x-24) - (4x-12) = x+60 and without parenthesis that becomes
6x-24 -4x +12 = x+60 don't forget to make the -12 positive
combine:
2x -12 = x+60
now subtract x from both sides
x-12 = 60
then add 12
x=72

3(2x-8)-2(2x-6=x+60)
6x-48-4x+12=x+60
2x-x=60+36
x=24. ANS.

2007-09-01 15:09:18 · answer #3 · answered by Anonymous · 0 1

3(2x-8) -2(2x-6)=x+60
Distribute first
6x - 24 - 4x + 12 = x + 60
Combine like terms on the left hand side
2x - 12 = x + 60
Collect like terms on either side of the equals sign by subtracting x from both sides and adding 12 to each side
x = 72

Equation:
3(2x - 8) - 2(2x - 6) = x + 60
6x - 24 - 4x + 12 = x + 60
x = 72

Answer: x = 72

x=72

here's a step-by-step thing:

3(2x-8) -2(2x-6)=x+60
6x-24-4x+12=x+60 (you mutliply the 3 and the -2)
2x-12=x+60 (you combine like terms)
2x-12-x=60 (you subtract one-x)
x-12=60 (again, you combine like terms)
x=60+12 (you add 12 to both sides)
x=72 <--- your answer

hope i helped :)

first step multiply

(3X2x-3X8)- (2X2x-2X6) = x+60

next

(6x-24)-(4x-12) = x+60

next

remove brackets

6x-24-4x-(-12) = x+60

=> 6x-4x-24+12 = x+60

=> 2x-12 = x+60
=> 2x-x = 60+12
=> x = 72

thats the answer.....

thanks

first you multiply out the brackets
6x-24-4x+12=x+60

Then you collect all the values of (x) to one side of the = sign
6x-4x-x= 60+24-12 (note that the sign changes when a value is moved to the other side)

then just solve
2x-x=84-12
x=72

There you go, Hope I helped. x

first distribute so you would have 6x-24-4x-12 = x+6
combine like trems 2x-36 = x+6
move your x's so they are on the same side and with your numbers to
x = -30
