I think that history is one of the muddiest fields there is because, by definition, there's nobody to cross-examine about what they said, did, or wrote.
However, it is essential to an understanding of the nature of civilization, and the nature of the forces that have brought about changes for good or ill in the past. Without such hindsight we could have no foresight.

I personally find history a waste of time. I think America would be better of if it was replaced with a math or science class.But knowing what happened in the past can sometimes inspire for the future.

Its a valuable field of study, however its only as reliable as the person who interprets it.

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it!

Yes, especially for lawyers. The study of previous cases establishes precedent for their arguments.

unless you do research and make significant discovery you wont get rich. even then..
where do you place your values on money or knowledge or good to society?
that's what you need to know first.

i think any historian would say yes. it is my opinion that we spend far to much time looking back and far to little time looking forward.
