Its not anybody's respomnsibility to raise someones self esteem. If he has low self esteem, he has to master the strength to build himself up. Your words will just be words, and the things you do will be mothering. If a man starts to feel like he's being mothered he may be flattered at first , and may even resent it letter. Talk to him and tell him openly and honestly how you feel about him and that it is important that he deal with his insecurities if your relationship is to maintain a steady pace.

It is virtually impossible for anyone to raise someone else's self-esteem. Ask any therapist.

Maybe the best thing you can do is contradict his false negative perceptions about himself and the world around him.

Not that I want to discourage you from sleeping with him. Having someone want to sleep with me - anyone - always raised my self esteem

totally boost his ego, make him feel like a million bucks and you will have a guy that is serious about you too. The best relationships I have had has been with women who give me as much or more in the relationship. I'm a giver by nature so being able to get great response back is absolutely the best!

Hmm...that's a tough one. One of the things you can do is to encourage him in all of his endeavors. Believe in him, and tell him that you believe in him. Tell him that he can do anything if he really wants to. Tell him to believe in himself. Of course, this will be a very slow process and requires a lot of patience. But, you'll get through to him eventually, and he'll be a self-confident person.

Don't be patronizing. Don't lie.
Do show you value whatever good
