I know it sounds likely, but ND can schedule whomever they want, they dont have to split their Bowl Game earnings with anyone (when was the last time they won a Bowl game though? Haha). But, if they did join a confrence, they would no doubt join the Big Ten, does anyone forsee this happening? I want them to so my Buckeyes can kick the crap out of them year in and out, but I dont think they will.

Q: What do Notre Dame and marijuana have in common?
A: They both get smoked in bowls.
LOL!!!

Any-who, I hear ya - they are lousy when the big games count, but they still have an extremely strong following. I don't think they'll ever join the Big Ten (11) - we already have too many mediocre teams. I was totally bitter when they allowed Penn State to join and I don't foresee them expanding the conference much more.
Besides, ND has the ability to make deals that other teams only WISH they could (as far as network carrying their games and the like). They don't need a conference...they've always been a money-generating powerhouse and they probably always will be.
(you know those Catholics) haha.

In every other sport Notre Dame is actually a part of the Big East. So If they were to join a conference they would be in the Big East. However, since they have such a lucrative television contract I don't believe they will ever join a conference.

No chance!
Their popularity allows them to be independent, yet still vital componant in the bowl games. By being independent they make enormous profits, without having to give them up.

The only way ND would join a conference is if for some reason their popularity plummented, and we all know that's not gonna happen any time soon.

I don't think they will and I'm a Buckeye fan first and a ND fan 2nd. I don't think they should, maybe the big east since that is what they are in basketball, I believe it is.

Go Bucks! Go Irish!

No they love being on their own and taking a major contract for their games with a TV network.

The only motivation would be money, which they don't need. They've got the sweetest deal in college football, including their own network and merchandise licensing agreements. I think they'll stay independent.
