Hey everyone. I am in my third year of high school, but I want to be an actor for maybe a TV Series or be in Hollywood movies. What are the steps I'll have to take to do so? (i.e. Audition at _____, attend ____ school, etc.). Also any recommendations, tips, and maybe help on how to look up auditions for extras would be helpful. Thank you very much!

Becoming an actor, is very hard. You don't really get to pick what show you are on. You need to hire an agent. (they don't cost, they only take about 10, maybe 20% of your earnings), and mention to them you want to be on the ____ channel, blah blah, and they will keep there eye's peeled. You should start out with commercials, then go big. You will need a reseme and headshot photo. And getting an agent is hard, you'd be lucky if you got one. Agents will only take you if you look like they can make money off of you. Most places don't have open casting calls, such as Disney Channel. If this didn't help feel free to email me. :) Good luck.

Also, you need EXPERIENCE!! (acting classes, school plays, commercials, etc)

WHOAH, what a minute. OK not trying to burst your bubble or anything but, how many plays have you been in? Or have you been in any, well that is the first step. Ok I have been in 52 plays and I haven't ever been a lead in a TV series or Movie, EVER! I am really good, and i have talent scouts from all over The east coast looking at me now! I have been an extra in tv shows. but you need to be in like a ton of plays before you get anywhere in the business.

Sigh, your first answer is not quite right.

Until you are 18, you must have your parents' permission to work professionally. But I am sure you are not anywhere near ready for that.

Take drama in school and be in all the plays.

If you are in LA, NYC, or Chicago, register with Central Casting to get extra work.

If you are serious about being an actor, click on my name, read my profile, and write me at my aol address.

ok.... REALITY CHECK!!!!!!! its like IMPOSSIBLE to be on a TV series or HOLLYWOOD MOVIE!!!!! you have to start training at like 5 to actually have a chance. hollywood is for the BEST, but if you want to act just as a hobby, audition for town or school plays to start, then just work your way up. trust me. but just keep in mind that you CANNOT be an ego-maniac to act.... acting is one of the hardest things on an ego! its full of people saying "your not good enough" and "work on this!" or "work on that more!" and "YOUR NOT DOING IT RIGHT!!!!!" take it from someone who knows!!! you have to learn to take constructive criticism and really put it into your acting!!! you can take acting and singing lessons, and i would take dance too!! i do all of that and it REALLY helps alot... cuz then you can audition for musicals too and not just regular plays.
GOOD LUCK!!!!! =) work hard!!!
