Do they get an extra draft pick in 2008, or was their Number One Overall Pick just a waste?

Would the team that drafted Russell next year have to offer the Raiders some sort of compensation?

They would get nothing. Just a wasted pick, and a year off for Russell.

He doesn't. It used to be when a team drafted a guy they woned his rights for 3 years. He can go to the CFL, but he would have to be traded to play for another team.

I think this is still the case.

It came up a lot when the USFL formed and guys like Hershel Walker, and Steve Young and Anthony Carter, were drafted by NFL teams but didn't sign.

They won't get anything monetary. They don't get a special draft pick either. They don't actually get anything except a giant headache for drafting a arrogant little prick.

It was a waste, but I don't think he can play for another team without their consent.
