I have a Vauxhall Astra 1.4 and the image of the engine on the dashboard has been lit up whilst driving for a couple of days now.I only travel around 100 miles per week so i am not too worried.However the engine has now started to judder a little
especially when stood still.I plan to visit a garage soon but does anyone have any idea what the problem might be and how much for it to be fixed?

Be worried. That light is on for a reason. Who knows what the problem is. It could be small or big. The longer you drive it the worse it will get and the more it will cost.

This fault is recorded in the memory of the ECU as a number, each sensor has an allocated number and this helps to diagnose the problem."

Basically your car has registered a problem and you need to take it to a garage where they can plug in a computer for a 'tech2' test which will tell them what is malfunctioning.

Dont continue to drive the car the light is your engine management light, check your oil level first as it could just be low oil if your oil level is ok then you must take your car to a garage.

Get that car into a garage! It's the Service Warning light! If you are not sure of the cost, ring round a few numbers from the phone book or contact your local dealer !

its a check engine light. it does not always mean bad trouble.could be a sensor going out or something simple. If it was a major deal you could hear something or smell something and notice it did not run good. get it checked out, they will have to put the computer on it to see.

it could be any number of things but rest assured if you dont get it seen to as soon as possable it could end up costing you the price of a new engine sort it out as soon as poss

engine managment light . most likly a minor fault , you will need a computor check to find it
