Your odds are the same as everyone else's, especially for the first pregnancy. Your body won't start producing antibodies that would attack a pregnancy because of rh factor until your second pregnancy, but a shot will keep it from happening at all.

Well, you have a better chance of becoming pregnant than your husand does....
All kidding aside, the negative/positive incompatibility doesn't usually create problems until the second or third child, because the mother's blood builds up antibodies. But even that can be overcome now that doctors understand the problem and can take steps to prevent the antibodies from forming. As long as you work closely with your doctor, and he is fully aware of the potential problem, there should be no difficulty in successfully carrying a child through pregnancy and having a happy, healthy outcome.
This is one case where you should definitely go with an OB/GYN rather than a family doctor.
Best wishes to both of you.

Your odds are very good. Your OB will give a shot of something towards the end of your pregnancy to deal with any adverse side effects from the blood type. I don't remember what it is called because I didn't need it. Same odds as everyone else for getting pregnant and your OB will take care of everything else when the time comes, as far as the blood type goes.

The rH factor doesn't really come into play with the 1st child, but with subsequent children (if any of them have positive rH factor). You get the shot (in the butt!) around the 7th month of pregnancy. If your baby has positive blood, then you'll get another shot after the birth. I'm A- and my husband is B+. We have 3 sons who are B-, AB-, and A-...go figure.

The rhogram shots are for your second pregnancy if the first baby is a positive blood type. You body doesn't build up enough immunity for the first baby but will be able to build enough for the second positive blood type baby. Unless there is something fertility wrong, you shouldn't have a problem.

Just make certain that your OB/Gyn doc is well aware that you are Rh negative. Make sure that everybody knows this when you go into labor. There should be no problem.
There are medications to handle this. (Do they still use rhogam, or has it been replaced by something better?)
Do a google search for Rh factor (rhesus factor).
The more you know, the less you will have to worry.

The first pregnancy might be alright, but see a doctor. Positive and negative couples can conceive but often miscarry because of the RH factor difference. There are things they can do now, sosee a doctor.

Yes you will just have to get the shot that keeps your body from attacking the baby if the baby turns out to be positive.
Also, talk to your doctor before you decide to get pregnant just to make sure everything is okay.

yes. (i have a little girl for evidence) considering you're O neg., you will have to have a shot when you're 28wks pregnant to make sure the baby doesn't reject your blood (just incase the baby doesn't have O neg.) --rhogam shot-not sure of spelling-- you'll also get one after the baby is born.
----even if your hubbie wasn't O pos., you would still have to have the shot due to you being O neg.
good luck and have fun making babies!
