Hi! Alright so am a college student and I was thinking of starting my own house cleaning business. I do have experience and great references since I've done it before at the time, I didn't think of making it a regular thing. Problem is, I would only be able to do it on weekends. Do you think I could still have a sizeable clientele with those days only? I was thinking maybe doing 2 or 3 houses per weekend and for right now, it'll just be me.Is this realistic? I have done alot of nanny jobs and although I liked them, I feel like cleaning is much more fulfulling to me. Do you think what am aiming for is attainable?Honest advice please. Thanks! :)

That's very realistic.. The one thing that makes all the difference in the world is how much time you put into something so if you have the time and drive to do it then you can make it... No one can truely answer that question for you, but you. Do you think it is realistic with your school load and other things you may have going on?

Cleaning is a great idea. However, i think as some have stated, people who work want their houses cleaned while they are not home, or at work -- that is, during the week, not on weekends. Most people just want to relax on weekends, not deal with strangers in their house. Moreover, most would require references, which I assume you don't yet have.

HOWEVER...

Business are closed on weekends. You can clean offices, instead of homes, and it would be more feasible.

Even better, you could hire onto an existing cleaning business, learn the ropes, get ideas for attracting clients, and then, strike out on your own.

After being in the biz for so long. I think you are thinking in the right direction. I would tell you after considering your time limits to do windows instead. You would make more money in less time. You can invest in the supplies for less than $100. at Lowes or Home Depot. You will not require much storage or overhead. However, if you really want to make some serious money, skip cleaning all together and get into my career.

I did something similar to this a couple of years back. Reference will be really important, I would recommend asking family friends and then asking them to tell their friends in turn. For someone to trust you in their home is going to be the biggest obstacle for you to get over. Be professional about things and you will get a lot more work. Put out a CV and literature advertising your services to local houses. Good luck!

I think it is because there is a lot of people who work during the week and want to come home to a clean house on the weekend and do not want anyone there, they just want to relax!

Yes it is realistic. There is no reason why this can't work. You just have to work your sphere of influence to get referrals and then get to work.

THE COAL IS SET AND CAN BE REACHED.... Don't hire someone to help you --- if you want it done right do it yourself...
