I am 13 and will soon be turning 14. I started my periods when i was in the 5th or 6th grade so i was porbably 10-11. I have NEVER used a tampon just always pads. It seems just about everytime i wear a pad that no pads are long enough and they leak ou the back and they also feel all nasty to wear. I am a matured teenager and i also play alot of sports, swimming, hanging with friends and when im on my period i feel as if i can not do the things i want to do. So would tampons be okay for a 13-14 year old and would they make me feel alot better about being active in sports and stuff daily? Alot of my friends wear tampons. I just need some advice. If your going to be rude to me dont even bother answering this question.

of course tampons would be ok, for your age. i'm your same age, and i couldn't image not having tampons while i'm on my period. plus, i've been using tampons since i was, like, 12. i was just never comfy with pads.
word of the wise though, if your flow is heavy you might want to wear a pad or a pantyliner too, just in case you leak.

I think tampons would be a great thing for you! I went through the SAME THING! I started wearing tampons when I was on vacation at the age of 14 & all my friends were going swimming & I was on my period. You will feel MUCH better wearing one. I know what you mean about wearing a pad, no matter what you feel like you're wearing a diaper, this will help! GOOD LUCK! :)

Tampons are fine as long as you are comfortable wearing them. I never liked pads either. I always felt nasty sitting on them and actually feeling the blood come out. Tampons work better and are less noticeable as well. You don't have to worry about the tampon moving around when you run or it being in the right place to catch the blood while you sit in class. But like I mentioned earlier, I believe it is ok as long as you are comfortable wearing it.

Hi, since you are so active I would try the tampons, to make it more comfortable to put them in get the Playtex ones that have a plastic applicator, the are easier to get in and work pretty good.

i'm uncertain that this qualifies as an emergency, yet...here it is going. No, i don't shave above my knee, basically below. despite the fact that, in the process the summer season and skirt season, I used to get my top leg waxed. Then, while i began getting too many ingrown hairs, I have been given laser hair removing, that's surprising and probable too costly for a teenager.

Yes, they would be okay. You would feel a lot better, especially in sports and being able to swim. They are more comfortable. Good luck. Try it if you think you are ready.

yes they would absolutely make a difference! Im sixteen and i think i started mine about the same time as you. I taught swiming during the summer though so i just didnt have another option. it really isnt as scary as it sounds. Honestly i never use pads because they make me feel dirty and im a clean freak- i cannot feel dirty.
