10 (base 5) = 5 (base 10).

To convert from base N to base 10 you use a sum of powers of the base N.

Example:
Convert 2345 (base 6) to base 10
2 x 6³ + 3x6² + 4x6 + 5 = 569 (base 10)

Convert 321021 (base 4) to base 10
3x4^5 + 2*4^4 + 1*4³ + 0*4² + 2*4 + 1 = 3913 (base 10)

In your case 10 (base 5) to base 10:
1*5 + 0 = 5 (base 10)

10 in base 5 is 5 in base 10.

It works like this. When you have a positional system for a certain base b, then the rightmost digit in a number in base b corresponds to units of b^0. The digit to the left of this, to units of b^1, the next to the left to units of b^2 and so on.

In base 5 the available digits to represent numbers are 0,1,2,3 and 4 (notice this is 5 different digits, much as 0..9 are 10 different digits in base 10).

Therefore 10 in base 5 is 1 in units of 5^1 and 0 in units of 5^0, i.e. 1 *5^1 + 0*5^0 = 1*5 = 5 in base 10.

To complete this, here is how you count in base 5:

0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 20,... etc.
