Hi
The cylinder head is bolted to the top of the engine block and you would be best advised not to remove it yourself.
It requires draining of the cooling system, removal of the rocker box, removal of the exhaust manifold, removal of the inlet manifold and intake trunking, removal of the timing belt, which entails resetting the cam and crank timing once the head is refitted, and a whole bunch of other involved stuff.
Have it done by someone competant to do so.
Best regards
Geordie

Get the set, using a second hand gasket will mean you have to do the job again soon enough. You will need: Main head gasket Valve cover gasket Camshaft oil seal if OHC Cam chain cover gasket if OHC and Chain cam Manifold gaskets Possibly thermostat and water pump gaskets depending on the engine type (you don't say) You might want to fit new valve stem oil seals if you are getting a new head. Check the mating faces for damage and just use a smear of grease on the main head gasket; Don't use compound here. Tighten it to the recommended torque a little at a time working round the bolts and retorque it after a hundred miles or so. That would be a reason to keep the original valve cover gasket and fit the new one when retorquing

A Haynes manual for your particular car will be the best place to look for instructions mate, as it is quite a bit of work.
Also, and don't take offense at this, if you don't know where the head is then you probably shouldn't be the one who tries to work on it. It can be tricky and you REALLY do need to get it right.

if you need to ask - you can't do it yourself!
you do not have the correct technical background
as an engineer, i would not consider removing it - why do you want to?
