The middle of your cycle is generally the most fertile time. And as such, the days surrounding the middle of your cycle are slightly less fertile. The days right before and right after your period are generally the least fertile time. However, as a form of birth control this is generally known as the rhythm method and it is notoriously ineffective so it is strongly NOT recommended. Our bodies are just far too unpredictable and so are cycles and fertile times and the amount fo time that sperm can live.

if it wasn't for badluck, i'd have none. i was on the pill when i got pregnant with my little girl at the beginning of a month. then, was using a condom (broke) and got pregnant *due in oct* with my son at the end of a month. so there is really no "safe" time to have sex. nothing is 100% safe unless you just plain out don't do it at all. patch, pills, and condoms, are not 100%. and if you and your partner are not ready for the responsibilites of a child, you better think twice. good luck

To decrease your chances, not eliminate alltogether though, the best times are a few days before your period, and on your period, as there is no egg to fertilize. An egg is only good for about 24 hours, then it takes a week or 2 before your period begins.

Right before or right after your period. NOT in between!
