The volume of a cylinder is 88 cubic inches. A smaller container, similar in shape, has a scale factor of 1/2. What is the volume of the smaller container? If someone could not only give me the answer, but also explain to me HOW they did the problem, that would be great!

11 in³.

The scale factor is 1/2 for length
The scale factor is (1/2)^2 = 1/4 for area
The scale factor is (1/2)^3 = 1/8 for volume.

Then:
Volume of the smaller container =
= 88 * (1/8) = 11 cubic inches.

Bye bye and Good Luck.

Scale factor for length = 1 / 2
Scale factor for area = 1 / 4
Scale factor for volume = 1 / 8
Volume of smaller container
= (1/8) x 88 in ³
= 11 in ³
