Hi,

After running the cold water in my bathroom sink I can hear the sound of dripping water 'inside' one of my internal walls.

I know I need to sort this out but is there any "easy" way of doing this without completely tearing down my walls / bathroom suite to find and fix the leak?

Any advice would be hugely welcome.

Thank you,
Chris

Houghton Weaver - Water settling. Not sure, but it sounds like a constant frip to me. It subsides eventually until you run the tap again.

Any more thoughts?

Handerande. The pipes from the basin go into the wall. Any more thoughts / ideas?

In spite of what nomad says the whole house is not likely to come down because of a drip
See if you can borrow a hearing aid type of thing like they sell at Bass Pro or one of those sporting places and listen to where the noise of dripping is the loudest, then drill a small hole ALONGSIDE the pipe, . Or go from below and try to see where it is leaking. If it backs up to a closet your best best is to drill from that side where it won*t show too much.

Is your sink in a base cabinet? If so, you could remove the cabinet and cut a hole in the DW in line with the water connection. Once repaired, the cabinet will cover the wall patch.
Make sure you have a leak first. Is there any water damage directly below the sink on the next floor down? If not, it could be water just dripping down the inside of the drain. To test this, run the water for a while, then turn it off. Quickly towel dry the basin and listen for the drip. If none is detected, the mystery is solved. If it persists, further probing is needed. If the pipes go into the wall, cut a hole below the pipe location. Once the leak is fixed, the DW will have to be patched. If it is wet when you open the wall, be sure to dry it out and spray a bleach solutiobn of 1/4 cup bleach to 1 quart water wherever mold is present.

Look for a service pipe entering the wall from any of your utilities.
If you find one use each utility seperately to determine origination of leak.
Is there a tank near you, could this be a syphon letting by in a wc cistern or tank, or ball valve in the cistern or tank.
Is the noise constant or erratic, if erratic when using a utiliy it could be a waste, if constant, this would be a service pipe.
By determining the problem through a process of elimination you should resolve the issue.
If found in the wall then there is no option but to examine the source, if you cannot deal get a fully qualified plumber.
Best of luck

\it is likely water remnants dripping from the trap under the bath/basin down the pipe, pour something thick like bleach down, the sound should be different and the dripping not last as long. If it sounds defo to be coming from a wall, drill a small hole, see if drill bit is wet, a few holes may be needed, usually if there is water in a wall you will see signs of it.

The only way to access leaking pipe inside a wall is to open the wall.

Find a qualified person to do diagnose problem and make repairs as soon as possible.

Sorry you have that problem but it goes along with home ownership.

it could be the water in the pipes settling.first of all in the area below where you thinks its dripping, check it there is water seeping through anywere or damp patches, does the noise stop or is it constant.once the pipes are full if it is water settling it should stop, water takes long to fill up in an upstairs bathroom.

first of ..you do not need to take down your wall ...the truth is ..the pipe should not have been buried in the wall in the first place !stupid thing to do .so ..disconnect the pipe from under the sink and if afraid you will have to find it outlet and reposition the pipe ..you can all ways box in the pipe

if you havnt got a damp patch anywhere its probably expansion and contraction noises from a plastic waste pipe from your whb , it could be touching wood or brick inside your wall the fact its an internal wall and no water marks i would say its waste pipe noises
