The on button lights up but then it would not turn off.What can i do.

Check that you are plugged into a supply, that the supply is on, and that the fuse hasn't gone.

Firstly, Check your monitor's power supply because the cable often is unconnected. If the power supply is right, you can check the cable connected with the mainborad.

Check your monitor cable is connected properly to your cpu .check that after switching on you are getting a beep or not.let me know if this does not work pm me.

could be power supply.
open box, look for loose part.
like CPU. mem sticks, cards, cables
