I want to watch an anime that the girl has an out-going attitude, or is a bit different than other girls. I also like it when the girl is tuff and strong (I mean this physically and/or mentally) , so she doesn't have to be protected by the guy all the time (But I still like it when the guy is stronger ^_^)

These animes comes to mind:
Motoko Kusanagi of Ghost in the Shell series (eventhough she is a cyborg she is tough, intelligent and an excellent cop)
Lirin of the Saiyuki series (she is not a major character of this anime, but when she shows, she is tough, loves to eat and battle the enemy)
Madlax of Madlax. Madlax is tough, a super strong mercinary who knows her weapons, but isn't afraid to show her soft feminine side when she wants to.
Aya of Tengo Tenghe. She is beautiful and a very pleasant personality, but she is one heck of a fighter and swordswoman. She is in love with the main character of the show and is not afraid to let everyone know it!
