It's legal and not recommended because someone could easily steal it and you cannot trace it back.

Take the cash and go to a post office, bank, Wal-Mart or Western Union facility and get it transferred into a money order. This way you can track it and it should arrive to the individual safely. Money orders are the best way to go.

Sure it's legal (unless you are sending it to another country - sometimes there are restrictions). It's just not safe. Anyone along the way can take it and you have no way of tracing it. Send a postal money order instead. The receiver only needs a picture ID to cash it at the post office.

It is legal, but it may not get there. Some friends of mine tried to send me cash once in a Christmas card. I never received it.

Spend a buck to get a money order, it can be from a check cashing place, supermarket, or post office, write the recipient's name on the order so it can't be stolen or mis-cashed, if the person doesn't want to give his name, you can leave it empty, BUT KEEP IN MIND this may be a sign he's doing something illegal.

No its not illegal but its not to smart unless you are sending some money in a birthday card or something but if you are buying something i would send a money order just to be safe unless you totally trust the other person

It is although I would recommend sending it insured and certified to ensure its arrival.
